AGROINFO – In the afternoon of 29 October, 2007, former Minister of MARD, Le Huy Ngo visited Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development (IPSARD).
In a meeting with leaders and heads of professional divisions of IPSARD, former Minister Le Huy Ngo expressed his concern and points of view on current situation of agricultural and rural development and his thought on developmental orientation as set forth by the sector for years to come.

Holding a key position in the past on behalf of the government in field of agriculture and rural development, former Minister Le Huy Ngo said that although remarkable achievements have been recorded over the last few years, the two important aspects relating to strategy formulation and policy making aiming at enhancing the growth of agricultural sector have neither been paid with due attention nor successfully carried out. “Policy making to develop agriculture in reality lacks a strategic vision and has not been done scientifically” he said in a straightforward manner.
To overcome the mentioned weaknesses, former Minister suggested that there should be effective measures to combine human resource, organization with investment to upgrade policy making and strategy formulation to serve agricultural and rural development. The initial results recorded by IPSARD so far have been encouragable but need to be well maintained to meet the new requirement.
On behalf of leaders and staff of IPSARD, director Dang Kim Son sincerely thanked suggestions made by former Minister Le Huy Ngo to the Institute and said that for the time to come, IPSARD continues to fulfill all duties given by the government and MARD focusing especially on reviewing the implementation of the resolution 05 of Vietnam’s Communist Party Central Committee (term IX) on promoting the industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural in period 2001-2010.
