On 28 August, 2007, a training workshop was conducted by the Spanish Project Management Board (SPMB) in the meeting hall of IPSARD on “Methodologies in the analysis of economic effectiveness, social and environmental issues” for the staff of IPSARD and the two groups of researchers studying cashew nut, bamboo and rattan (B&R) value chains.
Dr. Miguel Merino – Pacheco – a specialist of Spanish Agency for International Cooperation directly conducted the training. Here, he provided trainees with a number of useful analyzing methodologies following the value chain approach relating to such issues as: (1) policy-oriented analysis; (2) structured survey; (3) value chain analysis; (4) competitiveness analysis.The training workshop is part of the activities being undertaken under the project “Research in making policy recommendations to support the development of small and medium size enterprises operating in agricultural and rural sector”, which is financed by the government of Spain.
