(AGROINFO) – Talk was conducted between AGROINFO (IPSARD) and Dr. Bernd Markurt, a specialist of GTZ on 19 September, 2007 to discuss collaboration in setting up a communication- related forestry policy network in Vietnam.
Dr. Bernd Markurt, a specialist of GTZ, is in charge of providing support to developing a forestry policy network (FPN) and a forestry development strategy (FDS) in Vietnam for period 2006 – 2020.
The primary objective of FPN is to asist in formulating and implementing forestry policy in a new period. To achieve this objective, the role of information and comunication should further be highlighted while the formulation of a mechanism and effective style in information exchange between central and local agencies and between local communities themselve become important for helping achieve successes in forestry policy implementation.
Mr. Pham Quang Dieu,director of AGROINFO said that information dissemination and communication should be conducted in different forms such as through website, electronic newsletters, forums, publication etc. and that the diversity in communication would create good conditions for collecting knowleges not only from the network members but also the entire society in order to provide useful policy recommendations to the in-line ministries and sectors.
Acting as “a bridge” that links all actors who work both inside and outside Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) together, AGROINFO has enough resources to support Vietnam’s forestry policy network to operate efficiently.
