Assessing over this event, the Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper (CPV) (
www.cpv.org.vn) stated that Vietnam has currently had 113,000 enterprises with 2,429 operating in field of agriculture and rural. So far, agricultural and rural enterprises (AREs) have mobilized nearly 30 billion USD, employed 3 million laborers, generated 49% of the non-agricultural jobs, used 26% of the national labor and contributed 29% to the country’s total export value. However, AREs are currently facing constraints in capital and technology and their competitive power reaches only 46 points in a 100 point-scale table, while foreign direct investment (FDI) made to agriculture has accounted for only 7%. In this context, the emergence of the information portal
www.agro.gov.vn is extremely necessary especially under the international economy integration process.
The Online Newspaper of CPV also cited comments from a number of bodies representing for AREs saying that in the conditions of AREs’ limited development resources, such as land, the “Agribusiness Information Portal”- www.agro.gov.vn is considered as one of the most valuable information channels which can be used to enhance the growth of a commercialized agriculture and the competitive power of farm products through producing high quality commodities, developing linkages in a value chain ranging from production to marketing and attracting capital and technology to the agricultural/rural sector.
The Voice of Vietnam (VoV) had an interview with Mr. Pham Quang Dieu, director of AGROINFO on activities to be implemented by “Agribusiness Information Portal”- www.agro.gov.vn. Through the interview, AREs will benefit from:
• The self-introduction corner, where enterprises can introduce themselves and their products free-of-charge.
• The consultancy and forum corner, where enterprises can access useful information including explanations to their questions relating to production and businesses.
• The in-depth political and farm commodities analysis. The website has weekly news which present the situation of domestic and foreign markets.
• The delivery of information/data on farm product prices or laws, policies relating to enterprises.
• The friendly inter-phase which is easy to access information arranged according to specific topics and commodities.
• The buying/selling information corner, where enterprises can offer or introduce their products or seek for commodity exchange among partners.
